Preparing FEMA Flood Elevation Certificates

The purpose of this course is to inform the attendee what information to obtain at the project site and how to fill in the information requested on the FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) National Flood Insurance Program Elevation Certificate.

By the end of this session participants will be able to:

  1. Prepare FEMA Flood Elevation Cerificate.
  2. Define terms such as Flood Hazard Zone, Base Flood Elevation and Datum.
  3. Explain the location of required elevations.
  4. Propose comments that may be needed on the Elevation Certificate.

About our Speaker

John P. Lynch, PLS, Director of Survey of Control Point Associates, Inc., has over 35 years of experience in boundary surveying, preparing acquisition maps, right-of-way mapping, and many forms of surveying. Mr. Lynch ensures that Control Point Associates, Inc.’s Quality Control and Assurance document review procedures are followed and the firm’s highly established design and production standards are maintained. Additionally, he insures that Control Point Associates, Inc. is fully responsive to the clients technical and schedule needs. Experience includes projects ranging from single lot surveys to parcels several hundred acres in size. Emphasis is on preparation of surveys which can be sued as the base document for site plan design. Specialization in commercial projects adhering to ALTA/NSPS Land Title or similar client customized requirements. Proficient in preparing route surveys, subdivisions and construction stake out calculation.
